I don’t know how I found the article (or it found me) but I was blown away by this little story. There appears to be a market for human hair that I would have NEVER thought of in my lifetime. The same human hair that goes into our beautiful wigs is being used as….wait for it….FERTILIZER!
You heard it hear folks. A natural fertilizer and weed preventer on farms. Blair Blacker in Florida has found a special niche and is filling it with thousands of pounds of hair from China and India. My question would be: why not just recycle old human hair wigs? Are our old wigs just fertilizing the landfills? You can read more about Mr. Blacker in the FoxNews article.
Oh, and if fertilizer isn’t enough folks also use human hair mats for…wait for it…oil spill clean up. Yep, who knew that human hair was so absorbent that it makes a great tool for clean up of toxic oil spills. Planet Green’s YouTube video does a great job of showing how it all works.
I’m off to figure out how to recycle old wigs and make a fortune (while helping the environment, of course).
